CLUMBER PLAYERS AT THORESBY

Despite some inevitable regrets at leaving the open air stage in Clumber Park (built by the Players themselves in the 1980s) there is a great feeling of excitement at the opportunities offered by the new venue in Thoresby Park.

In July 2013, the Players will be presenting The Tempest by William Shakespeare in The Old Riding School.

The facilities of the venue will give greater scope for productions, enabling
the Players to take advantage of lighting and other stage effects previously impracticable.

In addition, it will be possible to offer a greater degree of comfort to the audiences. The provision of tiered seating ensures all have an unrestricted
view of the action and improved acoustics will mean audibility will cease to
be an issue.

It is true that the magic of the open air effect will be lost but this is more
than offset by the absence of the hazards of cold, damp and midges which
all to often accompany our English summer.

The Players hope to welcome existing and new patrons to join them at the
new venue with all the challenges and opportunities it offers.
